Took the young fella out for a spin on his PW 50 today, which nearly ended in a swift visit to the local emergency room. After numerous laps of a local track, I figured the little man was looking ready for the table top (which he was avoiding due to a crash last time), not jumping but just simply ride up and down it as he had done last time we went out there. I was alittle concerned about the last time he rode over it, there is a burm on the other side which runs parallel to a barb wire fence (starting to get the picture arent you) anyway last time he stacked on the burm and luckily came back rather than over it. So, after conducting the 5 step learning method of explain, show explain again and again and again, making sure he knew where the brakes were and how to shut the throttle, I sent him on his way, explaining dont hit the fence what ever you do...... on his way...
Screaming at him to shut the throttle and use the brakes, he held the throttle wide open....
now, most of us have at some point in our lives ridden a 2 smoker, and when you hear that slight ringing noise you know your on it, combine that with the sickening feeling of watching your childs head wip back as he rides flatout into a four stranded barbwire fence, I honestly thought I was going to be conducting triage on an open gash in the neck.... luckily
the fence got him square on the helmet, a swollen, bloody nose and a little scratch an inch under the eye was the only marks on him (thank god) - as mum came running over.
So Fully Loaded Boy is now only allowed to ride designated tracks around home well away from fences, until he's old enough to handle the strom anyway
