as much as I enjoy the VFR and Mr Honda's fantastic V4 and reliability, it just doesn't make me happy after a ride like the old 900SS did, so, does anyone out there know of a good 1098 or 848 :)going at a reasonable price? Even a track bike may be considered. Rats

Ya gotta be kiddin me if ya think the OLD 900SS is a better bike thAN the Viffer!!!!. U must have toooo much money mate and u want to throw it away on an bloody Ducati.
Why dontcha try a Trumpy SPEED Triple OR even a pesky 675 probably both cheaper than a 848 or 1098 and a lot more reliable!!! ;D ;D ;D
What about a Aprilia Tuono the Vtwin model. Ridden a few of them and they are Wheeelie machines and sound oooright too.
Heres an 848 i found on the Formula Xtreme website. Dont know the bike at all. FYI.

Mate, there aren't that many Ducatis out this way from what I have seen, must be people out this way have taste Now, the BS out of the way I would have to agree with John in terms of value of the older 900 as opposed to many more modern machines. But, what is or will be the budget (hopefully) as there may well be some Hypermotards around (damn they are fine machines) that would well exceed the fun level of the 900. Or alternately, look around for a 1000DS or so. FWIW , Glenn Henry down your way has an old 900 but I reckon it is over priced But again mate, will keep an eye out for you

Wouldnt have a clue what any of you are talking about to be honest.
But simple fact is if it floats your boat it floats your boat, doesnt matter if its faster slower whatever as long as it makes you giggle like a little kid.
Good luck Rats

Rats, if ur after a cheap track bike ur best bet is to search the various Auction sites for damaged bikes. U wont be able to re register it in most states now the laws have changed. Brad got his 1ST 675 from the Auctions was 07 model (in 2009) with 22k on it a small amount of rear cowl damage, broken footpeg and gear lever and the Stator cover was worn thru. He paid around $4k For it and we got the stator rewould got a S/H stator cover and replaced all the body work with race glass, did it all ourselves for under 1k including the body work and went racing. Thats how a lot of guys do it.

Should have expected that reply Thanks all, That 848 sounds ok, I am scouring the auction sights and keeping an eye out locally as still not sold on track only bike yet (due to no tracks near by..... Yes, the Glenn Henry bike is a little over priced, I stood there for 5 mins staring at it a week or so ago contemplating asking how much I could get for my Honda, then I realised what I was saying in my head.... then I walked away.

Might be an 848 with 1098 barrels coming on the market soon. A mate of Brads just bought Craig McMartins 1198. He raced the 848 last year, not sure if it can be converted to a road bike or not.

I think Rowdy is still local. Wratts
