Yep, as of this week I am no longer gainfully (or ungainfully if that is a word) by the might corporation that is, was and wants to remain Computer Sciences Corporation or CSC.
Yep, thats right. Working from home on Tuesday I get a phone call from the Director asking me to come to the offence, he sounded a little taken back when I asked if he was going to roger me and whether I needed to dress up or stay dagged down, but hey who cares right.
Into the offence, into the room, sat down and rather they realised that I didn't want any bulldust so they cut to the chase when I told them that all I wanted to know was the payout figure, which they duly provided.
So when I picked my self up off the floor we had a brief chat, I thjanked them as I hadn't been enjoying myself for around 12 months or so and walked out. From there it was a few fairwells over the next few days before handing back all teh crap that came with the job and leaving, all the while smiling.
Turns out around 25 people bought it from Wollongong and from all accounts most were quite happy to get out, whilst around 200 nationally although not all were that happy.
So from here it is a small rest and lots of riding, although for A2 I will try to get wider than the MacPass equals just to see what is out there. ;D
Then I will start looking for work so if anyone hears of something just let me know, I may be interested at the time.
Oh yeah, anyone up for midweek rides let me know although this week will be spent with Michelle down the south coast so will need to be next week.

a bit of poor form by CSC, although I hope they paid you well for your services on leaving mate. Enjoy your rest, and if you are still free midweek over June/July (lets hope not) I may be up for a spin.

Enjoy your rest, and if you are still free midweek over June/July (lets hope not) I may be up for a spin. Mate, I actually consider myself lucky in a number of ways as I seriously wasn't enjoying my work and really dreaded going in every day, plus we genuinely had very little to do so it was only a matter of time. But at least I got a phone call and was told by the director directly. The girl I work with was contacted by colleagues (including one who was hit themselves) from other states on Thursday/Friday who passed on their commiserations and surprise at her having been made redundant as they had heard it 'through the grapevine' (ie. team meeting announcements). Problem being, she has not yet been told officially nor has any contact been made by her manager, although there was a missed call from the director on the same day I bought it (assume this was to call her to the office for the good news). She has tried to contact the Director, managers and HR for confirmation but so far only the manager has been contactable and said 'we did try to get you'. Couple that piece of class with the fact that I was not contacted by my manager (same manager as the co-worker) at all even given that I left a week early due to planned leave and you start to get the picture as to why I am not sorry. Plus, and this is the decent one I left with a healthy payout that did in all honesty floor me senseless when they said what it was to be as it was double that which I expected although I was unaware of some of the tax free aspects. Suffice to say that while finding another job is a priority I can take my time if I so choose. And as for mid June, well if I am still off work, consider it done. Garry

The big payout is always a good thing. I'm waiting patiently for mine, but the bastards won't cough up ! I've yet to meet anyone who has a good thing to say about CSC. Try to take a small break before you dive back into it. I'm planning a two week outback trip in early June if you're interested - warning: tents may be involved.

Mate, never any good when you get laid off , only had it done once to me and yes it was a relief to get away from the job. So what to do next, maybe a time for a change of occupation for a little while as a break. AUS Post are always screaming out for posties?? Maybe a talk to A2 or Dave??
Enjoy the break

Commiserations on ending up on the jobless queue.
Glad to see you've got the right attitude, if you play your cards right you may well end up with a nice cash bonus a shiny new job and a little holiday.
Best of luck.

Not good to hear Gaz
Hope you get a new job soon, but in the meantime get out and about on the DR.
Does this mean you might be keen for a few Friday rides down this way?
