Photo software

Hi Guys,
I'm, looking at update my Photo software soon and I was wondering if anybody could help me out. the software I use now is Ulead PhotoImpact 11 which ok but I'm looking at this one Adobe® Photoshop® Elements 5.0 plus and was wondering if anybody here has this software or know anythink about it ?

i have photoshop elements 4.0, but use photoshop 7.
elements keeps wanting to take over all photo stuff and run the computer. or something.

I haven't tried the latest Elements, but I wasn't very impressed with the earlier versions. I thought they were a bit 'basic' for the price.

If you haven't already, check out The GIMP. It's open source software loosely based on Photoshop. It's reasonably powerful and it's free.
